River Threat!

Some bricks have been dumped into the nandran river. These bricks fell into the river due a truck accident that happened on the national highway. It was the duty of the forest department to clear the menace, but the forest department dint act as per the need.

Besides this, extraction of sand has been taking place on the river beds in the wildlife sanctuary area or on its border. The forest department officials at the Mollem range seems to least bothered about this as they haven't acted in the case.
Our sources in the department say that the round officers are involved in the plot. Few months back, an officer had extracted and transported the sand to Marcel.

Giant Squirrel Rescue!

The members of Union of Wildlife Activists - Goa, rescued a Malabar Giant Squirrel (Ratufa indica) at Paachmi, Khandepar. This juvenile rodent was found in injured condition by Mr. Yogiraj Gobre in his orchard. Many giant squirrels have been sighted in the region in past few years.
These squirrels come to the orchard and consume coconuts and betel nuts. Hence they are killed. It is the state animal of Maharastra. Yet has gained much significance.
